LepiMAP Record of the Week

LepiMAP Record of the Week features the beautiful Green-veined Charaxes -- Skelm-dubbelstert (Charaxes candiope). This photo was submitted to LepiMAP by Mary Ellen Lindsay. She photographed this lovely butterfly in Scottburgh, KwaZulu-Natal Province.

The Green-veined Charaxes is a common and widely distributed butterfly, though for some reason less so in West Africa. This species has a mainly savannah-based distribution in Africa, ranging from Senegal and Gambia, across to Ethiopia, all of East Africa, and south to Swaziland, Botswana, and at least to the Eastern Cape Province in South Africa.

Thank you Mary Ellen for submitting your photos to LepiMAP!! Each and every record counts! No matter if it's a common or rare species, it all counts!
